POEMS "WHEN THE EIGHT DOUBLE DUECE GOES HOME"
Words by Jerry Campbell and Ed "Pappy" Hufft Sung to the tune of: "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" When the Eight Double Deuce comes marching home, Hurrah! Hurrah! They'll be real sharp and smiling too. Hurrah! Hurrah! The dogs will bark and the girls will shout, And the birthrate will soar without a doubt. And they'll all be glad that, The Eight Double Duece is back. They spent some time in old Saigon, Hurrah! Hurrah! A-chasing coes around Cholon, Hurrah! Hurrah! They spent some "P's", and squeezed some knees But kept in their BVD's Oh, the coes were sad when The Eight Double Deuce went home. The Schofield school had some real sharp cats, Hurrah! Hurrah! The carried sticks and wore blue hats, Hurrah! Hurrah! They liked to stand around and jeer, But never offered to buy the beer. The blue hats were glad when The Eight Double Deuce took off. |
